Bible studies:
As a diligent student of the Bible, you will want to make sure the Bible really says what this study says. Always remember to test all things with God's word - as the Bereans did. They "received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). First, read the study all the way through, without looking up the Scriptures. Then read the study again, this time looking up the Scriptures. Highlight or mark each verse you look up so you can easily find it later. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Most people smoke because they are nervous, anxious, restless, bored, scared, worried, insecure or lonesome. They do not realize that this gnawing, restless, anxious feeling that causes depression is the same thing that makes people want to drink, take drugs or smoke marijuana. They want to feel good instead of feel bad. It is good old human nature; but there is no good in it at all (Rom. 7:18)! In fact, all people are wretched before they know how to obey God and begin living a life of service to others. Even Jesus Christ knew that He was not good as long as He had a human nature to overcome (Luke 18:19). No one is righteous or good before God (Psalm 143:2). We must all put to death our human natures, which are consumed in fleshly lust (Rom. 8:13). How do we put our old natures to death? The only way is to live to the Spirit. We live to the Spirit when we overcome evil by doing good (Rom. 12:21). Doing good deeds or good works can be saying good words, thinking good thoughts and doing good things. Once our old natures are crushed by God and we cast all our anxieties on Him, He gives us peace for our souls and there is no reason to continue to smoke (Rom. 16:20; 1 Peter 5:7). That old nature, that once drove us to do wrong, is now put to death by doing right, or practicing righteousness for God. We discover that practicing righteousness is fun, enjoyable, pleasant and easy (Matt. 11:30). It is the way to find rest. However, we must come to Jesus Christ (Matt. 11:28). If you want to quit smoking for good, live for Jesus Christ daily by keeping His works (Rev. 2:26; Luke 9:23; John 14:12). They are easy and they glorify God. Worship and serve only Him with good works, as Jesus did (John 9:4; Matt. 4:10; 5:16). If God will provide His disciples with the strength to move mountains, He will surely give you the strength to quit the smoking habit, as well as any other bad habit (Matt. 17:20). (Feel free to give copies of this study to others who want to know Gods truth. You will be doing Gods Will when you show and tell others how to live this special Way.) Bible studies:
